Meet the Team: Albert Diaz, Director of Technology at inari

At inari, leadership means more than just managing projects. It’s about inspiring growth, driving innovation, and fostering collaboration across teams. That’s exactly what Albert Diaz, our Director of Technology, embodies.

Starting as a Python Developer back in 2018, Albert quickly grew into leadership positions, shaping both our technical direction and our team culture. Today, he leads inari’s tech organization with a focus on innovation, alignment, and continuous improvement. Always with curiosity and a passion for problem-solving at the core.

In this Meet The Team feature, Albert reflects on his journey, shares what it’s like to lead technology at inari, and offers advice for anyone looking to grow in their career. And outside the office? You’ll find him trail running, cooking up something new, or mastering his latest carpentry project.

Let’s meet him!

1 – Can you tell me a bit about your background and how you came to work at inari?

inari has been a big part of my professional journey (it was actually my first job). I started back in February 2018 as a Python Developer, and from there, I quickly moved into leadership roles such as Team Lead, and now, Director of Technology.

Before joining inari, I studied Informatics Engineering and worked on several university projects in collaboration with SEAT.

2 – Tell me about your day-to-day role at inari and what areas of your job at inari you most enjoy?

As Director of Technology, I lead and support our entire technical team, both from a technical and organizational perspective. My days are filled with coordination, innovation, and helping our tech and squad leads align with company goals.

What I enjoy most is problem-solving, whether it’s tackling technical challenges or supporting team dynamics. One of the best things about inari is the freedom and flexibility it gives us to grow. Not just as a tech company, but also personally, in our own careers.

3 – What attracted you to the technology/insurtech sector?

I’ve been passionate about tech for as long as I can remember. The pace of change and the constant need to keep learning is something I thrive on. Working in insurtech is especially exciting because the insurance world is still early in its digital transformation journey. It’s a space full of complexity and opportunity, which makes it a perfect playground for innovation.

4 – What advice would you give to someone looking to start a career in your field?

Be critical and stay open-minded. Growth comes from questioning yourself, learning from others, and embracing different perspectives.

Don’t fear mistakes; they’re often your quickest teachers. Every challenge brings new lessons if you stay curious and humble enough to learn from them.

5 – What do you like to do in your free time outside of work?

I like to stay active and spend my time on hobbies. Lately, I’ve been really into trail running and competing in as many obstacle course races as possible. Outside of sports, I enjoy cooking and experimenting with new recipes (results may vary!). I’ve also recently gotten into carpentry. It’s a completely different kind of challenge that I find super rewarding.

6 – What’s one surprising fact about you that most people at inari wouldn’t know?

This one is always tough! I’m not the most outwardly expressive person, but I’m not exactly secretive either. Maybe the most surprising thing is that I’m a metalhead… who also listens to reggaeton. Or maybe it’s that I might secretly be a lizard person; I’ll have to decide.
