Meet the Team: Arnau Faquer, DevOps Lead at inari

inari is built on great technology, and behind every reliable deployment or seamless release, there’s a team ensuring the engine runs smoothly. One of those key people is Arnau Faquer, our DevOps Lead, and the latest team member featured in our Meet The Team series.

With 6 years of experience in DevOps, including software development, system administration, and cloud computing, Arnau joined inari to be part of a company that embraces innovation and uses technology to make a difference. From supporting deployment pipelines to mentoring junior engineers, he brings curiosity, precision, and a team-first mindset to everything he does.

In this interview, Arnau shares what makes DevOps so exciting, gives practical advice to those entering the field, and reveals a fun hobby you might not expect: 3D printing!

1. Can you tell us a bit about your background and how you came to work at inari? 

I have 6 years of experience in DevOps, with a strong foundation in software development, system administration, and cloud computing. Before joining inari, I worked as a DevOps engineer in a srongly focused bank web aplications, where I was responsible for implementing and maintaining the company’s CI/CD pipeline, ensuring high availability and scalability of our systems. I was drawn to inari because of its innovative approach to insurance technology and commitment to using cutting-edge technologies to improve customer experiences. 

2. Tell us about your day-to-day role at inari and what areas of your job at inari you most enjoy? 

As a DevOps Lead, my day-to-day role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain our technology infrastructure. I work closely with engineering teams to ensure smooth deployment of new features, troubleshoot issues, and optimize system performance. I also lead training sessions for junior team members and participate in knowledge-sharing sessions to stay up-to-date on industry trends. What I enjoy most about my role is the variety it brings – one day I’m working on a high-priority project, and the next day I’m mentoring a new team member. I also appreciate the opportunity to work with a talented team of professionals who are passionate about using technology to make a positive impact in people’s lives. 

3. What attracted you to the technology/insurtech sector? 

I’ve always been fascinated by the intersection of technology. As a DevOps we do not develop insurtech business logic but is so awesome to work with different sectors. 

4. What advice would you give to someone looking to start a career in your field? 

If you’re interested in pursuing a career in DevOps or the insurance tech sector, here are some pieces of advice: 

  • Start by building a strong foundation in programming languages like Python, Golang and bash.  
  • Learn about cloud computing platforms such as AWS, GCP or Azure and containerization tools like Docker and kubernetes. 
  • Network with professionals in your desired field and attend industry events to learn more about job requirements and company cultures. 
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices through continuous learning and professional development. 

5. What do you like to do in your free time outside of work? 

When I’m not working, I enjoy biking, playing role games with friends and also enjoy to play airplane simulation games. 

6. What’s one surprising fact about you that most people at inari wouldn’t know? 

One thing that might surprise my colleagues is that I’m very good at DIY stuff, I recently adquired a 3D printer and is my full time hobby right now.
