Meet the Team: Xavi Tallet, Data Engineer

At Inari, we thrive on solving complex problems with data, and for over eight years, Xavi Tallet has been a key player in making that happen. With a career that began in database administration and evolved into data engineering, his journey reflects what we value most: curiosity, adaptability, and a love for learning.
Before joining Inari in 2017, Xavi worked in several consultancies and entered the insurance sector in 2014. Brought in by Frank from the very start, he’s been part of our journey from day one. Since then, he’s contributed to foundational projects like our data lake, helped manage our PostgreSQL databases, and is now diving into one of our most exciting new challenges: building an AI chatbot for our platform.
In this edition of Meet The Team, Xavi shares his advice for anyone starting out in the data field, his excitement about transforming the insurance industry, and how rock music, football, and time with his kids keep him grounded outside of work.
Let’s meet him!
1. Can you tell me a bit about your background and how you came to work at inari?
I’ve been working as a Database Administrator (DBA) for just over 10 years, mainly with Oracle and other relational databases.
Before joining Inari, I worked at several consultancies, where I had the chance to learn a lot from highly skilled professionals.
In 2014, I started working in the insurance industry at ANV.
I joined Inari in 2017 thanks to Frank, who invited me to be part of the company from the beginning, and I didn’t think twice.
Inari has been a great opportunity for me. Even after nearly 8 years here, I’m still learning new things every day.
2. Tell me about your day-to-day role at inari and what areas of your job you most enjoy.
At inari, I currently work as a Data Engineer.
In the early days, I was heavily involved in a data lake project where we developed jobs in Python, ensuring high-quality ingestion of all kinds of data, storing it, and preparing it for reporting.
I’ve also contributed my DBA experience to help manage our PostgreSQL databases.
Right now, we’re working on a new AI challenge: building a chatbot for our platform, and I’m really excited to be part of that project.
3. What attracted you to the technology/insurtech sector?
I enjoy working at a company that’s transforming a traditional industry like insurance.
We’re digitizing a sector that has needed it for years, and it feels great to be part of that change.
4. What advice would you give to someone looking to start a career in your field?
My advice to anyone starting as a DBA, Data Engineer, or any other data-related role is:
Work hard. There will be tough moments, but don’t give up, all hard work pays off.
Stay curious about new tools and technologies.
Have the humility to always be willing to learn from those who know more than you.
Never settle. Always look for ways to improve.
5. What do you like to do in your free time outside of work?
In my free time, I enjoy sports, going for a run, cycling, or playing football.
I also love listening to rock and heavy metal music.
But most importantly, I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my two little kids. I love playing with them and learning new things together.
6. What’s one surprising fact about you that most people at inari wouldn’t know?
There aren’t many surprises, most people who know me already know that I love spending time with my loved ones, listening to music, playing sports, traveling, and more. I’m pretty open about it all!
